Hi guys, how are you? I hope you're fine. Stay healthy and hydrated wherever you are.

This time, I'd like to tell you about Budheg Mountain, an interesting and friendly tourist attractions for newbie climbers in Tulungagung.

Mount Budheg is located in Tanggung Village, Boyolangu. The height reaches 585 (five hundred eighty five) meters above sea level. As one of the mainstay tours in Tulungagung, this mountain offers a charm of beauty that seems to never fade.

On top of Mount Budheg we can see a panoramic view of Tulungagung. Even more fun, this mountain is located in a residential area and is quite close to urban areas.

The entrance ticket to the Budheg Mountain area was surprisingly cheap, the last time I went there on August 2020, each person only needed to pay Rp7.500,00 (seven thousand and five hundred rupiahs). Then, each visitor were asked to write personal information as proof that every single person was on the accountable visitor list.

Budheg is a small mountain suitable for beginner climbers. For people who are not even accustomed to mountaineering, Budheg Mountain can still be a recommendation for tourist attractions that should be considered. Facilities in Budheg Mountain tourist area are currently also being developed. So, it's no longer a surprise that you will find toilets, prayer rooms and a lot of food stalls around there. The parking area is also available for cars and motorbikes. At some hiking points, stopovers have also been built for climbers to rest. And of course, the view from the hiking post was also very beautiful.

There are two hiking trails that visitors can pass. The main route is the western area with an easier route. It only takes approximately two hours to reach the western top via the western route. Another option is the northern area, where the terrain is much more difficult and usually less travelled.

Generally, climbers will leave in the afternoon and then camp at the top of the mountain. Thus they can enjoy the beauty of Tulungagung at night, when the stars are very clear from the top of the mountains, also the moon looks very beautiful. Furthermore, when morning arrives, there will be a dazzling panoramic sunrise.

If you want to climb and camp at the top of the mountain, I suggest that you do it in the summer. Because if it is rainy season, the wind will be very strong and the view from above will also not look too good. Besides that, the hiking trail will also be very slippery.

Budheg Mountain has two main peaks. The distance between the western and eastern peaks is not that far. In my opinion, if you want to see the sunrise clearly in the morning, the eastern peak is the right choice for a place to set up a tent. However, the maximum tents that can be set up there are only two, one main tent and one small tent.

As for the western peak area, tents are more flexible to set up because of their wider area. The last time I went there, the western area was filled with 7 pairs of large tents. If you want to see the sunrise at the eastern peak, around five in the morning you can wake up and continue hiking to the eastern peak which will take approximately 15 minutes.

And just in case, don't leave your belongings outside the tent area unattended in the morning because the monkeys will roam around and look for food wherever it comes from, including in your tent. But don't worry, the monkeys won't attack if you don't panic and make them uncomfortable.

If you go there, don't forget to bring your own plastic bag and bring the trash down from the mountain. Take care of nature, then nature will also take care of you.
