Film Out is a sentimental song with heartbreaking yet beautiful lyrics. It was released on April 2, 2021, through Universal Music and Big Hit Music, as the lead single from the compilation album: BTS, the Best (2021). This song may looks very simple at the first time you listen to it. But as you look closer, as you listen more, you suddenly see a whole universe unfold. Film out is such an insane song, at least for me. I am indeed a fan of melancholic music, especially which uses piano and guitar instruments in it. What makes me drown into this song is how unique the rap lines' flows, how beautiful vocal lines' runs and harmonizations, and how the melody throughout the song perfectly established a build up to the catharsis at the last chorus... and all of that is absolutely perfected by soul smacking lyrics. Film out really has that melancholic vibe, like that's the only song I could never get tired to listen to since it came out and I would still get emotional for unknown reasons. I love how it started off softly but then the emotions intensify as we reach the end of the song. I also can’t get over the imagery of the lyrics.
Film out is honestly one of the best Japanese songs BTS have ever released. I could clearly hear the emotion between each lyric and voice of each member. Everything about Film Out is flawless. How the vocal lines delivering the climax of the song with such intensity and emotion really hits hard, it hits too close to home. This song really shows how vocal lines tones and colors are so different while also showing how amazingly they blend together. It also shows how BTS rapline are so versatile with any verse they do. I know they're not the best vocalist or rapper in this industry, but they always give their best and they never do something half-heartedly when it comes to creative works they're doing. Listening to this song is the equivalent of that shuddering breath you exhale after you're done crying. You may still caught up in emotions, but like a huge load has been taken off of your shoulders, you feel relieved. Film out is really kind of song that will grow on you... The more days pass, the more you're falling in love. I have no other way to explain it.
Such a magical and beautiful song by BTS, the composition by Jungkook, the deep and soulful rap, and the heavenly vocals plus the high notes, film out really is the best Japanese masterpiece by BTS. I personally want to praise Jungkook for his contribution as a co-composer in this song. Jungkook's vocal, as usual, is so heavenly, and his harmonies in the song are especially gorgeous. His contribution and part in the composition of Film Out is really a huge part of why it soars and tugs at my heart. He has a genuine understanding of both his and the members voices. I have no doubt he composed it while having a clear idea of how everyone would sound. This song even has a great storytelling and it feels good to be able to think and to feel each member's way of thinking. The feeling of being drawn in something you can deeply admire is overwhelmingly good because it's really amazing when you understand how BTS can shine so much with their songs as their weapons.
To sum up my ramblings, Film Out is a hymn of feelings that I really can perceived just by listening to it. It's been more than a year and half since they released their Japanese song, but Film Out will forever has a special place in my heart. No matter how much I listen to it, it will always be like the first time, the feeling is the same and it comforts me so much. It left a mark on me because everytime I listen to it, I keep thinking; what a beautiful poem of the unforgettable it is.
